About Chinyere, the Mindfulness Bae.
she/her · Civil rights lawyer · Writer · Activist · Yogi · Meditation teacher · Founder of Baddie Be Well™

My name is Chinyere, the Mindfulness Bae, and I’m a Black, queer, Ivy-educated civil rights lawyer working at the intersection of racial justice, gender justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, and discrimination law. I'm also an expert on the Discrimination-to-Incarceration Pipeline and how it pushes trans people of color into poverty, homelessness, and criminalization. People know me as the "B*tch Who Never Loses Cases," the Black woman who cancelled Prada for blackface that one time, and my personal favorite, "infamous." Two values guide everything I do: I stand for justice, and I seek the truth.
Some fights are worth waging, no matter the odds.
Although my legal advocacy has been reported on in the New York Times, Washington Post, BBC, and Al Jazeera among others, here’s headlines didn’t show: a private life long struggle with ADHD (diagosed at 40) and Autism (diagosed at 42), that made my Black Excellence come with sides of imposter syndrome and burnout. Maybe that sounds like someone you know. Maybe it sounds like you.
So I founded Baddie Be Well after years of burning out in plain sight.
Yoga and meditation started as a way to cope with burnout, then became a healing practice rather than a calling. They became a way back to myself, out of my head and into my body. So, too, did a few other things I'd love to tell you all about, if I ever stop being a very respectable lawyer (srsly).
To stop the perfectionism. To stop the 24/7 masking. And to start healing out loud, in hopes that it also inspires you to embrace yourself without apology. It matters how your inner world feels. Other internal worlds are possible. Know that. So let’s find them together.
Healing Out Loud. Healing Together.
